Mason turned 3!!

Mason is now 3 years old.

Favorite food: pizza
Favorite color: he said black--but usually it's blue
Favorite movie: The Care Bear Movie and Big Hero 6
Favorite toy: Baymax
Best Friends: All the kids
Favorite thing to do: jump on my bed and watch movies

We decided to have some of his friends over for little birthday party. We decorated cupcakes which Mason had been waiting for since I made them the day before.

I had to grab the cupcake from him in between each time I went to get frosting or put on different sprinkles.  We sang to him and then he blew out the candle; it's a good thing we didn't have trick candles because it took him 3 or 4 times to blow out the one candle we put on his cupcake.  He loved his cupcake, he mostly just ate the frosting off the top.

Mason opened a couple presents while people were finishing off their cupcakes, he loved them. He got a car with tools, and a set of tonka constructions trucks.

The kids had a great time running around inside and playing. We also set out some paper bags they decorated and colored, then headed outside for the pinata!

We kept the pinata a surprise and were so happy to see his reaction when we had the bat and told him to hit it.  We had him go first and hit it a few times, he got a couple really good whacks in. We let everyone else have a turn hitting it, most of the kids kinda swung at the pinata but didn't really hit it great or didn't care to hit it more than once.

After everyone had gone we let Mason loose on it. He was having a great time and finally hit the front wheel off, it didn't have candy in that compartment so I tore open the middle and shook the candy out for the kids to get.

Mason was so excited and just wanted to open the first piece he found, I had to explain that he could pick up as much as he could get and put in his bag, after a couple seconds he figured it out.

We had a great time talking with friends and Mason was so happy having his friends over and has already asked for them to come play more.  Thanks everyone for coming!

After his friend party we headed over to John and Debbie's for dinner and cake with the family.  We had pizza which is Mason's favorite. We gave him a little bit of rootbeer which he hasn't really had before and he liked it but would shake after every sip and tell us it was 'spicy'. Then he opened his presents.

He got a Baymax, a big triceratops, a couple books, new clothes, a stuffed t-rex, Avenger toys, money, hulk boots and ninja turtles.  He made out with a pretty good haul and was in heaven opening all his presents.

After we pulled him away from his new stuff we sang to him and ate cake. I decided to be adventurous and do a character cake. I made sure I gave myself plenty of time to make it so I wouldn't be stressed and it was a good thing, because it took me 2 hours, but it was totally worth it.

Mason loved his "turtle face" cake, and he had a great time playing with cousins and seeing family.

Thanks to everyone for the gifts and helping us celebrate his birthday!!

Paige 5 months- Mason update

Paige turned 5 months this week and we are loving how fun and interactive she is becoming.

Mason and Paige 5 Month Comparison

She is still super social and really happy most of the time. She loves Mason and will smile and flap her arms and breathe excitedly when she sees him.  She finally rolled over; it was a long time coming. For weeks she had rolled onto her side but would never roll all the way over. She rolled over during my primary lesson from her back to her stomach and the kids thought I was a little weird for stopping in my lesson to clap and praise her.

She also discovered her feet about a week ago and has been loving them ever since. As soon as she is out of her swaddle in the morning and finishes her stretching she grabs both her feet and smiles.

We also brought out the exersaucer for her to play in yesterday and she loved it.  Mason played with the toys for a while which entertained her as she clung to a toy with each hand.

She has also started blowing little bubbles and spitting while she sits with us. She still loves to sit and will strain herself if she's lying down to try and sit up.  She will laugh and smile when we surprise or tickle her.

She has started to get really grabby for things that are in front of her and is super fast at reaching them,  Holding her while eating is starting to get interesting.

She is happy and fun, loves to talk and look at people.  We love her and are having so much fun watching her grow and learn!

We went to the fair and had a blast looking at animals, walking around the exhibits and Mason especially loved sitting on the tractors and lawn mowers.

In other news Mason started potty training last Monday.  It was rough the first day, he threw fits throwing his underwear around his room for about 20 mins demanding his diapers but after the first day and his poop episode a couple days later he has done surprisingly well. He even went twice at church and one was with the nursery leader.  He still has a little bit of work before he can get over not wanting to poop on the toilet but he'll get there. I love not having to change his diaper or spend money for them, and he is loving being a "big boy" and picking which underwear to wear each day.

His birthday is next month and we asked him what we wanted for his birthday he responded with, "cake...and fire" which is cake and candles. He has become obsessed with birthdays and will yell "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" at us throughout the day.  He loves the Hulk, getting bad guys, and beating up his Batman toy.  He is getting so big and growing up so fast. He's such  ball of energy and so much fun, I wouldn't have it any other way.
